SOLID is committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive culture and molding future music industry executives into leaders of change by investing in philanthropic, educational, and community partnerships.


In recognition of this mission, SOLID’s intent is to focus on the following, based on the four foundational pillars of SOLID:

Relationships

  • Foster relationships and conversations within the SOLID organization (current and alumni members) with a vision for fulfilling our diversity and inclusion mission.

  • Cultivate partnerships with other diverse organizations both internally and externally of the music industry.

  • Increase board and membership diversity to reflect the greater music community.

  • Establish Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Task Force for consecutive terms as checks and balances with the Executive Board to serve as liaison between organization and D&I Task Force.

  • Regularly survey members to monitor internal changes and create transparency within the organization.

  • Consistently seek external, unbiased feedback to ensure organizational diversity and inclusion growth.

 

 Philanthropy

  • SOLID Shares: confirm partners that are in line with the diversity and inclusion mission, demonstrating fiscal stewardship through quarterly reporting of contributions.

  • SOLID Serves: select service projects/organizations that support diversity and inclusion mission.

  • SOLID scholarship: expand to garner a more diverse applicant pool by building awareness of scholarship beyond Nashville community.

 

 Education

  • Provide mentorship opportunities for current SOLID members to connect with industry/community mentors that fall in line with diversity and inclusion mission.

  • Self-learning opportunities: example - book club, member-only forums/coffee/lunch breaks, etc.

  • Tap keynote speakers and panelists that fall in line with diversity and inclusion mission.

  • Further virtual programming to reach broader audiences and target new diverse groups.

  • Survey membership for annual feedback on diversity and inclusion within the organization.

  • Implementation of diversity and inclusion training into annual board retreat.

  • Include diversity and inclusion programming in new member retreat. 

 

Community

  • Enhance SOLID Connect programming for members and alumni to provide opportunities focused on diversity and inclusion such as internship programs, fair pay and civic engagement.

  • Expand mentorship and educational experiences provided by SOLID to university students outside the Nashville community.
